Cathedral

Duccio di Buoninsegna's Cathedral presents two related scenes within a single architectural space: a dense group of robed male figures on the left and a kneeling figure in pink and blue addressing a veiled, dark-clad woman on the right. The interior features warm pink-brown walls, arched doorways, slender columns, and a coffered ceiling that creates a ceremonial, stage-like space. The palette uses muted earth tones—ochres, pinks, blues, and greens—with careful drapery, soft modeling of the figures, and clean linear outlines, characteristic of the early-Sienese Gothic style.
