Madonna di Buonconvento

Madonna di Buonconvento is a tempera on panel with a gilded background, typical of Duccio di Buoninsegna’s early Sienese painting. The Virgin wears a dark blue mantle and holds the Christ Child on her left arm, both figures occupying most of the surface within a rounded arch and presenting a calm, frontal, intimate composition.
